The Lastovo Archipelago contains 44 islands, islets and cliffs, with a total land area of 53 square kilometres and territorial waters of 143 square kilometres. The largest of the islands is Lastovo, placed some 13 kilometres south of Korcula island.
Recognized and established as a Nature Park in 2006, the Archipelago features numerous plant and animal species, as well as amazing natural landscapes, including rocks falling into the sea, verdant forests, fields and hills.
The islands are somewhere inhabitated, but the locals have lived in a perfect harmony with surrounding nature since olden times.
Since the island is important resting place of many migratory birds, Lastovo was actually named after the Croatian name for swallows. The fauna of the islands includes some rare species, such as Mediterranean gull, Adriatic lizard or bats in the island's caves.
Situated on a picturesque island of the same name, Korcula is surrounded by natural beauty both of land and sea. The mild climate favors growth of lush Mediterranean flora, whose colours and scents will immediately boost your mood.
Banje Beach - The main town's beach, 200 metres from the town's centre, with the beautiful view of the city walls and Peljesac peninsula. Pebbly, partly cemented beach, suitable for children. Windsurfing and sailing available.
