Hotel Aquarius reviews

After a full day's travel, we were told by the receptionist that there was no record of our booking. Fortunately, we had our confirmation letter with us and were quickly allocated a room after discussion with the manager. There were no tea and coffee making facilities in the room and a sign up banning food and drink!! When we asked the receptionist to contact the Cosmos rep to confirm our transfer time, we were told three times that the phone was not working despite us hearing it ring.

The major issue we had with the hotel was the very inconsistent staff which had different answers and rules depending on who was on duty. Tourist information was available or not depending who was on duty. There must be other hotels in the area which are more guest-friendly.

Room reasonable size with good bathroom. Twin beds very small and short (think caravan beds) and pillow like a bean bag. Several minor faults which we didn't report as we assumed they will be put right whilst hotel shut for winter. View of crane from bedroom, but not much noise.

We had a very nice room or suite in the annex which was an interesting journey from the main hotel. The hotel's restaurant was 'closed' but we were not worried by this, but would like to have been made aware of this on our arrival. Being in Lapad where most hotels appear to be situated you were close to the main bus routes.

Needs some updating, but good location for walking to main walking area as well as 5 mins from bus stop to get into old town. Did not eat at the restaurant but it seemed to have limited menu. No problem as plenty of restaurants within 5 min and tons of coffee/beer bars.

The double room was huge: actually, a junior suite with a foyer, large sitting room, private outside patio deck, generous-sized bathroom, and a large bedroom. The included breakfast is served downstairs in the main building, and the hot and cold foods were varied and fresh. Some maintenance details needed attention; for example, the outside lock to the Villa building was very difficult to open.

Each room has access to Wi-Fi, but this was a tad haphazard and difficult to connect to at times. Very comfortable beds. Overall, Hotel Aquarius had everything we wanted, it was a short bus ride out of the main tourist area, and being a smaller Hotel it felt more comfortable, less stuffy and perfectly located for the nearby Lapad Beach or getting into the old city.

The hotel is attractive with comfortable rooms - it serves a decent breakfast. Staff was helpful and pleasant. A short 7-10 minute walk will take you to a bus stop where you can catch a bus to the old town.

This hotel is a 10 min. bus ride from the Old Town of Dubrovnik and a 10 min. walk to the bus! The hotel had its share of problems, i.e. both phone in room and computer in lobby not working and no one rushing to fix things.
