The Palace Hvar Hotel

The staff at reception was very helpful. The breakfast was fine, it's nice to have a view and the hotel looks attractive from the street. Hvar has so much character and the front of the hotel fits this. However, once inside it feels like student hall of residence accommodation. Very old decor which makes it feel dirty, no air con, tiny balcony, small room (and we paid to upgrade to a superior room!). You can barely sit two people on the balcony and there are signs around the hotel asking you not to leave anything to dry on your balcony as it 'spoils the look'. Hvar is busy and noisy (it's really good fun) but even with windows shut you can hear all the outside noise around the hotel. We also stayed on Brac island during our stay for 1/3 of the price of this hotel in a much more modern and spacious room.

There isn't air con but the fan was really good. Unfortunately we did not like breakfast provided, and felt it was very average - the worst thing were the wasps which swarmed us every time we ate in the restaurant.
